About this test
The HLA-B27 test detects the presence of the HLA-B27 genetic marker in the blood. HLA-B27 is associated with several inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including ankylosing spondylitis, reactive arthritis, certain forms of inflammatory eye disease such as uveitis, and other spondyloarthropathies.
A positive result does not by itself diagnose any specific condition, and a negative result does not completely exclude one. Results should be interpreted together with symptoms, examination findings, and other laboratory or imaging studies when appropriate.
